The Human Rights Centre of the United Nations mandated University for Peace is delighted to introduce a brand new online professional development diploma in Human Rights and Forced Displacement which will be offered in 2015. The diploma can be obtained by successfully completing the following five online courses:

Forced Migration and Human Rights: 4 March – 14 April, 2015
Trafficking in Persons: 8 April – 19 May, 2015
Protection of Refugees: 17 June – 28 July, 2015
Protection of Stateless Persons: 26 August – 6 October, 2015
Protection of Internally Displaced Persons: 28 October – 8 December, 2015

Each of these online courses is also offered as a stand-alone certificate course, but participants can now obtain a diploma by taking all the five courses which fall within the overarching theme of forced displacement. The diploma is designed in a way that participants develop incremental expertise in the different limbs of forced displacement and its linkages with human rights.

The foundation course of the diploma is ‘Forced Migration and Human Rights’ which begins on 4 March, 2015.

This course provides a comprehensive perspective on the topic of forced migration and the human rights challenges inherent to its different facets. The course is specialized in its own right, but is also the ideal pedestal for further specializing in the specific areas of trafficking in persons, protection of refugees, protection of stateless persons, and protection of IDPs.

The special fee for taking this diploma is USD 2400 (as against USD 3000, if paid for each stand-alone course separately). Fee for almuni of UPEACE and the Centre enrolling for the Diploma is USD 2100. Alumni who have already completed the course on Trafficking in Persons or on Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons in 2014, are only required to take the other courses to obtain the diploma. The courses can also be taken for academic credits.

To apply, candidates must send an email to Admissions along with your CV and a short Statement of Purpose (not more than 500 words) indicating the motivation for taking the diploma. Applicants will be contacted within three working days of the application. The diploma is limited to a maximum of 25 participants.
