downloadAfP held our latest edition of the Conversations with Extraordinary Women Speaker Series through our Women & Peacebuilding Affinity Group on December 9th. The discussion featured Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda from Zimbabwe, a trained human rights lawyer with extensive experience in conflict resolution and mediation. For some twenty years, she has worked to advance women and children’s human rights, with a special focus on crisis countries and addressing issues of violence against women, peace with justice, property rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV.

Ms. Gumbonzvanda gave a captivating message about the relationships between peacebuilding, gender, human rights, reproductive rights, and conflict prevention. She believes any call for justice is a call for gender justice; she also stated that conflict prevention is inherently equal to the promotion of human rights.
