2017 Civil Affairs Symposium and Call for Papers

AfP is proud to be a co-sponsor of this year’s Civil Affairs Symposium, an annual event hosted by the Civil Affairs Association. This year’s Civil Affairs Symposium will from November 2nd – 3rd at the Hilton-Rosemont Hotel just outside of Chicago, IL.

In addition to the workshop, panel discussion, and invited speakers, the Symposium will review this year’s Civil Affairs Issue Papers and consider them for publication at the Civil Affairs Roundtable in Washington the following spring. The Association will hold a banquet dinner, open to all, that Friday evening, as well as a business meeting for members and invited guests the following morning.

The Association will soon post a link to reserve hotel accommodations at a special group rate as well as for event registration on its website.

An agenda will follow in early August. Defense Department conference approval is pending.

Call for Papers

The Civil Affairs Association and its partners are also inviting experienced civil-military operators to send an originally written Issue Paper on analysis, discussion, and further recommendations in consideration of the 2016-2017 Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, Facilities and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) findings and recommendations report. The top five Issue Papers will appear in the 2017-18 Civil Affairs Issue Papers at the spring 2018 Roundtable in Washington, D.C. Authors will present their papers at the Symposium in Chicago, IL on November 3rd, to compete for a first prize cash award of $500, second prize of $250, and third prize of $100 per author. Papers prepared jointly by civil and military professionals are most welcome.
