Peacebuilding Approaches to Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism

AfP is pleased to share its new report, Peacebuilding Approaches to Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism: Assessing the Evidence for Key Theories of Change.

Violent extremism poses an urgent and substantial challenge to global peace and prosperity. While the peacebuilding community has gained a deep understanding of what drives extremist violence, we lack aggregated evidence on what works to address those drivers. In response to this evidence gap, AfP conducted a systematic subsector review of preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) program evaluations, agency produced lessons summaries, evidence summaries, research papers, and white papers available within the public domain. The review aims to bolster the field’s knowledge of what works to prevent violent extremism, enabling more effective programmatic and policy responses.
