Institute of World Affairs (IWA) Contact: Hrach Gregorian, President hgregorian@iwa.org The Institute of World Affairs (IWA) was founded in 1924 as a non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt organization devoted to international understanding and the peaceful resolution of conflict. In support of its mission, the Institute conducts a range of programs designed to prevent violent conflict and to advance post-conflict peacebuilding. These programs include training seminars, both in the U.S. and abroad, designed to enhance professional skills in conflict resolution and infrastructure development. The Institute also operates several long-term development and post-conflict reconciliation projects in the Middle East, West Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean. The Institute of World Affairs is governed by a Board of Directors, the membership of which includes individuals who have dedicated their lives to the study of international issues and to the advancement of peace. Geraldine Kunstadter is Chairman of the Albert Kunstadter Family Foundation; Samuel Lewis has served as U.S. Ambassador to Israel, head of Policy Planning at the U.S. Department of State, and President of the U.S. Institute of Peace; and Sierra Leone Ambassador to the United States, James O. C. Jonah, was head of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations.
