Resolving and Understanding Conflict (RUC) Contact: Mohamed Yarow, Director of Programs mohamedyarow@hotmail.com Resolving and Understanding Conflict (RUC) is a non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The organization was formed by a group of like-minded Somali professionals and intellectuals who work to facilitate a smooth transition from conflict and enmity to peace and reconciliation in Somalia and participate in the reconstruction of the country. RUC is managed by qualified and dedicated people with deep understanding of the Somali situation and with extensive experience in the fields of international development, peace building, human rights, conflict resolution, and issues of democracy and good governance. Vision: A Somalia that is peaceful, democratic, and developed that respects and promotes the rights of her citizens, and cooperates with her neighboring countries in contributing to the development and stability in the Horn of Africa and the rest of the international community. Mission: To facilitate dialogue among the Somalis in the Diaspora and promote peaceful means of conflict resolution within Somalia; to aid the transitional federal government institutions in enhancing their capacity to carry out their mandate; to assist the civil society organizations that are working in areas of education, peace building, conflict resolution, human rights and gender equality. Goals: RUC aims at contributing to the transition and peaceful transformation in Somalia from a state of conflict and statelessness to one of stability and good governance. Objectives:
