On Tuesday, October 14th at 10am ET, AfP and the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) hosted a virtual discussion on the recently launched ICAN report, The Odd Couple: Women Peacebuilders and Security Actors Bridging Positions, Building Trust. With today’s unprecedented geopolitical uncertainty and rising militarization and authoritarianism, the priorities of the Women Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda—advancing human security, recognizing women’s expertise and agency, and preventing and resolving violent conflict—are more urgent than ever. The report highlights how the WPS agenda creates vital entry points for women peacebuilders to engage with security actors, build trust, and reshape local security environments. Women peacebuilders involved in the drafting of the report will explore how its recommendations can be advanced throughout the peacebuilding and WPS community.
